Learn how to identify, control, and prevent grub damage

What are grubs?

Discoloration and deterioration of grass could be the result of small turf-destroying insects in your lawn. These insects are white grubs that are the larvae from numerous species of Beetle. It is important not to be fooled by the small size of these creatures as they can damage a lawn quite quickly and extensively.

Once hatched, grubs begin to eat the roots of the grass which will in turn kill the grass and your lawn. This can lead to patches of thinning grass that often grow larger if left untreated. Grub infestations can also weaken the root systems of the grass, making sections of the lawn easy to pull up and more susceptible to damage. Grubs can develop in isolated areas or even the whole lawn, making them an important threat to watch out for.

What can be done?

Unfortunately, the destruction caused by these insects is often very time-consuming and expensive to fix. This is the reason why we often recommend one of our grub preventative treatments which are applied in the late spring and into the summer. This treatment has saved many of our customers from the headache that is trying to fix a lawn that has been ravaged by grubs. This is the best way to control for and rid your lawn of these pesky turf-destroyers.

Even the healthiest lawns are at risk of grub infestations, and once these populations of larvae begin to hatch, it is often too late. We generally have found that customers notice grub damage during the late summer. This damage could likely be avoided through use of our preventative grub control application, allowing us to attend to the problem before it begins.

Our technicians are trained to recognize grubs and grub damage in lawns to properly make recommendations for effective treatment. However, if you notice grubs or grub damage in your lawn, please reach out to us and we can go over treatment options to determine how to effectively handle the problem.
